Beach Safety...

Our Parish beaches do not have a lifeguard, although safety equipment and safety signage is provided at each beach.

It is important when using the beach to familiarise yourself with the location of lifebelts and telephones before going onto the beach itself. It is also important to avoid putting yourself and others at risk.

If you see someone in difficulty do not swim out to them, phone 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Let them know where you are and what the problem is.

Barbecues are not allowed on the town beaches – Whitby, Scarborough & Filey - but they are however allowed on our parish beaches - Staithes & Runswick Bay - as long as they are contained barbecues and not just a fire.

Dogs are allowed on all the beaches in the parish but are still subject to the dog fouling act.

Please respect other beach users. Thank you.
